Tarangire National Park, located about 120 kilometers southwest of Arusha in northern Tanzania, spans 2,850 square kilometers and is approximately a 2-hour drive from Arusha. The park is famous for its diverse landscape of savannas, baobab trees, and the Tarangire River, which attracts large elephant herds and other wildlife. You can also spot lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, and over 550 bird species. The best time to visit is during the dry season from June to October, when wildlife gathers around the river.

Itinerary

Your day trip to Tarangire National Park starts early with a 6:00 AM departure from your hotel in Arusha. After a 2-hour drive, you’ll arrive at the park around 7:00 AM, complete entry formalities, and start your adventure. From 9:00 AM to noon, you’ll enjoy a walking Safari and  morning game drive, exploring the park and spotting wildlife like elephants, lions, leopards, zebras, and giraffes, especially around the Tarangire River.

Around noon, you’ll take a break for a picnic lunch at a designated spot in the park, relaxing and enjoying the scenery. After lunch, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, you’ll continue your game drive, exploring deeper into the park’s woodlands, swamps, and riverbanks. Your guide will share interesting facts about the plants and animals

In the late afternoon, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, you’ll have a final game drive as you leave the park, perfect for photos. As the sun sets, you’ll head back to Arusha, arriving at your hotel by 8:00 PM, ending your memorable day trip to Tarangire National Park
